Fashion Designer, Melissa Davis started sewing and designing over a decade ago just as a hobby. With no formal training or education, she designed garments for herself that no one would dare wear to social gatherings just for the reaction. Needless to say, she was never overlooked. The garments always caught someone’s eye and sparked conversations. This response fueled her fire to create more distinctive outfits. After leaving her hometown of Boston in 1999 for Charlotte, NC, she took her hobby more seriously. Challenging her creative mind, she mixed and matched fabrics and notions not normally used together. These designs stood out and caught attention, receiving an overwhelming demand for her garments. Melissa then established, Foxx Skynz by Design in 2003. Foxx Skynz by Design creates fashions for men and women, with styles ranging from casual clothing to risqué wear. Melissa uses fabrics from simple polyester to full fledged furs. Each garment has its own particular style that caters to the client's exceptional taste. Foxx Skynz has clients ranging from brides to filmmakers to WNBA players. These astonishing garments have also been seen in print on numerous fashion show advertisements, featured in various publications including the Charlotte Observer and SOTAC Magazine, as well as on runways across the nation from New York to Seattle, WA. In 2006, Melissa won the Up & Coming Fashion Designer of the Year award given by the Executive Producer of BTE-TV, Sofia Davis. Also that same year, Foxx Skynz was featured at the BET Hip Hop Awards Pre-Party hosted by HITTMENN DJS LIVE, which can be viewed online on My House, a three-part series for the Powerball Mansion Party.
